Civilian Arrest

A few days ago, I watched news on TV about civilian arrest done by groups of police instructed by our Government. They arrested hundreds, even thousands of those civilians. It didn’t only occur in Java, but also they did it other regions in this country.

It sounds good because our society will become more secure by the arresting of those civilians. And there is no more a group of hoodlums in public places that will bother people. Yeah, everybody will think so. But don’t we ever think that this is effective to do and we can guarantee the society will be secure after arresting all of those civilians.

None can answer this question with exact answer. We can only predict for something unknown. On the other side, I can say that our Government will be burdened with thousands of civilians when they are in prison.  And we don’t know whether they will be a good person or in contrast after freed from prison.

“Being Civil Servant”

Hmm, it seems to be a civil servant is a very good choice to continue our career. Why not? Many graduates send their application forms to fill in the positions when the Government opens vacancy to be approved as civil servant. This occupation occasion opens every year. Who are lucky, they are the ones who will be used as civil servants.

But the problem is, this procedure is only formality. It means that it does not work well. The reason is, some the applicants who want to get the position are willing to bribe a person who has capacity to run that enrolment. This is not just opinion, but this is a real fact. Just prove it if do not believe it!

Well, if we think more deeply, what is actually that makes the position of civil servant becomes very attractive and invites lots of people to use all ways to achieve their ambition becoming civil servant?

Private School or Public School

Well, it would be sometimes difficult for students who are already graduated from elementary school or junior high school to find out the best school for them in order to continue their study. Some of them prefer to have their education at private school, or even they keep in public school.

They have various kinds of reason why they choose that kind of school. They choose private school because they consider that private school has a prestigious value; that is it has e good educational system, the teachers are very responsible and high qualified. So then, most the students are very smart and are able to compete with other students from different school when they follow competition. But, only a certain people could go to this kind of school because of the tuition fee is quite high. On the other hand, public school also provides some over plus for students. The tuition fee is quite achievable for all the tuition. Besides that, the system in educating students is not really left out from private school. The fact, in many competition they commonly win the out.

So, these two types of school have their own excesses or shortages in running out their role as public service in education.

Early Marriage for a Young Girl

      It sounds common for all of us if a young girl gets marriage in early age. There are a lot of such kinds of cases happen in our society. But for some groups of people, this is not usual to apply in their societies. They argue that if a young girl gets marriage in such age, they would not really enough to run her role as a wife or even as a mother. In order to overcome this problem, the Government has assigned a law for this; that is the minimum age for the girl to get marriage.

     To some extents, this kind of marriage has advantages and disadvantages. For the advantages, a young girl can stay away free intercourse. Of course, this is a very big problem in our society. So then, it creates case so many young girls be pregnant without getting marriage. Another advantage is, the parents are not burdened with their daughters. And there are so many other advantages of this.

     In contrast, some people claim that it is only inflict financial loss for the girls. They said that most young girls are not ready mentally and physically. The most significant consequence is, the girl does not have opportunity to continue her study.

By that statement above, let us discuss of the following questions:

Condemnation of Illegal Residence

Well, it is kind of hot issue in our country that happens for along the year in central cities in our country; that is condemnation of illegal residence. The government is very sensitive when they get the information about illegal residence. They are very adept to solve this problem; by sending their apparatus to remove all the illegal residence. That is a good way to do in order to maintain the regularity of the city. But, don’t we ever thing that what they do is just the same to seize the residents’ right to have their prosperity to live.

Let’s think together deeply; to some extents, condemnation would bring positive and negative impacts for the society. For the positive impact, of course, by doing this policy the arrangement of city planning would be easier to do. So then, the scene of the city will be in good looking. In contrast, it would raise negative effects for the people whose house is removed by condemnation. It is very clear to see, what will happen to them. They no longer have  houses to live. So, they just keep their defenselessness until there some other people or organization would help them. Yeah, it is very tragic for them. So, we can ask ourselves; don’t they have the same right with us to live in peace, safety and prosperity?

Capital punishment

      Indonesia public return reminded with the process death execution. When a death punished from India Ayodhia Prasad Chaubay die in front of 12 people of shooter team which was provided by the high attorney of median.

As mentioned above generate pro and contra. Chef of GRANAT (gerakan anti Narkotika) Hardiman Jayadiningrat said the capital punishment has a proper as applied because the increasing numbers of drugs abuse, one reason why drugs seller don’t stop committing crimes because of the light penalties.

While in the other side counter opinion aid that rule of capital punishment against the human right, it is right to live in any circumstance like contained in universal declaration of human right.

Problems:

Criminal code revision of moral turpitude

      Seeing the condition of our country now, we are in moral decadence era. Therefore, our Justice and Human Rights Minister took a spectacular action by exposing to public about the plan to revise the criminal code of moral turpitude. The statement appeared pro and contra opinion.

The articles of moral turpitude as follows:

1.      Contraception tools (416 articles): showing contraception tools to public without permission will be fined at Rp.150,000;

2.      Adultery (419 articles): having sex between man and woman (love affair) will be punished 7 years maximum.

3.      Cohabitation (422 articles): living together between man and woman without legal marriage will be punished 2 years maximum.

4.      Homosexuality (427 articles): making relation with the same gender will be punished 1-7 years.
