Demonstrations ( The Protest Action on The Streets)

A few days ago the new government led by Jokowi-Jk planned to raise the prices of subsidized fuels in order to anticipate a deficit (kekurangan) in our state budget (APBN). Fuel subsidy given by the government during this time will be reduced (dikurangi) and then will be reallocated (dialokasikan/ditujukan)  to support other government programs that are more productive and useful for many people, one of them as we often hear these days through the media as the "card magic  (kartu sakti)".

However, this policy plan gives rise to (menimbulkan) pros and cons (pro dan kontra) among the people and the rulers (penguasa) themselves. People who agrees with the plan of this policy said that through this policy we can reduce the budget deficit in our state budget in 2015 projected (diproyeksikan/diperkirakan) at 2.21% next year to be much lower (jauh lebih rendah) by about 1.3% - 1.4%. While people who does not agree with this policy argue that the best way to reduce the deficit in our state budget is to cut the budget and cut the allowances (tunjangan) of ministers and their facilities, but if the fuel remain be raised, it will be impacting on a small/poor society and it would cost the state budget doubled due to (dikarenakan) the salary of government employees who also have to go up, therefore, they decided to protest in the streets.

But it is very regrettable, Protest Demonstration in the streets always lead to clashes (bentrok) either by students, residents, and the security forces, as recently occurred (terjadi) in Makassar, the students marched (berbaris) to voice opposition (perlawanan) to Jokowi's working visit (kunjungan kerja) to Makassar, has something to do with (berhubungan dengan) the increase (kenaikan) of fuel price plan like he said . As a result, some of the members of the student to be injured or wounded (terluka) since the clashes.

The question arises, should any wrong policy (kebijakan yang salah) be responded with Demonstration in the streets?, as we know almost all of them leads to anarchy, even harm (merugikan) others/society that are the riders of traffic due to congestion (kemacetan) caused. Some protesters found Demonstration action down the road will be much more effective to attract (menarik)the attention of the authorities and the public through the mass media than the discussion or dialogue which incidentally is a culture and characteristic of Indonesia people as a good citizen.

Discuss.
1. do you agree with the Demonstration in the streets?
2. In your opinion as a student, what is the best way that can be done to deliver our aspirations?
3. What do you expect from a democratic country?
