FORT RETTERDAM

Having Fort Rotterdam is a special proud of Makassar people and its surrounding. This is full of cultural and historical value. Now, it is becoming tourists’ destination in Makassar either for local tourists, national or international ones. To improve the quality of this fort, our local government plans to restore this fort.  

Now, the plan of Regional Government to restore the original shape of Fort Rotterdam keeps going.  Revitalization of this cultural and historical legacy estimated spending lots of budget. Therefore, it needs assistance from central government. This has been stated by Makassar Mayor, Ilham Arif Sirajuddin. It takes lots of budget because all the buildings around the fort which attached to the Fort will be acquitted. It is because the government will build a canal along the fort.

Ilham Arif Sirajuddin needs the willingness and participating of Disperindag Sulsel, RRI, and Slamet Riyadi Post Office by starting to destruct their buildings and moving them to the other places. If those offices have started, Ilham believes that the other companies will be awakened. “This is for our beneficence to take care of our cultural and historical inheritance” said Ilham.  The Head office of Dinas Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata (Disbudpar) Makassar, Eddy Kosasih Parawansa argued that all he will negotiateto the owner of the building attaching to the wall in order they will not render the plan of this fort revitalization.
